Christmas Mini Session Details
WHAT TO EXPECT
Unless you’ve been to my studio before, it can be hard to know what to expect when you get here. Let me tell you all about it.
Most kids take a few minutes to get used to the studio. There’s a lot to look at and giving them a few minutes to warm up is totally fine. I won’t rush you. In fact, I’d rather you spend half of your session time getting comfortable with the studio than try to rush your little one into pictures. You’ll get so many more GOOD photos if we just take the time your child needs. I promise, you won’t be missing out on any good shots. You’ll actually get more!
While your child is warming up to his or her new surroundings, I’ll be busy playing with toys and talking to Mom and Dad. This typically gets your child interested in the set pieces and helps them warm up to me even more. I love to play peek-a-boo and being a little silly helps too.
Once your child is comfortable with me and the studio, we will play a bit. I’m looking for those genuine smiles and true joy that just won’t happen if I ask them to smile. So we have fun and get a little silly. And that’s the magic formula, plenty of patience and silliness.
FAQs
Can I choose more than one backdrop?
No. Each backdrop has a unique set of corresponding props and various furniture items and they take time to set up. During the holidays, only one set will be assembled at a time in the studio.
Can I bring my fur baby?
Yes! I love it when people bring their dogs to the studio.
Can my entire immediate family be on the set?
Yes! As long as everyone fits in the set, I’d love to get you all in there. Just know that the more people there are, the less time we have for individual photos. With less time, we get fewer smiles, so you might not get the shots you’re hoping for.
Some sets, like the Christmas Cuddles, are limited on space due to larger props (like a bed), so be sure to take that into account when deciding how many family members to bring.
How long does it take to get my pictures once I have selected my favorites?
About a 2 weeks. I know everyone is eager to get those Christmas cards out, so I work really hard to get your photos to you within a two week time frame. Every now and then, there are extenuating circumstances, but that’s pretty rare. Just know that I’m working on getting you your photos as soon as I possibly can.
What if my child does not smile for the pictures?
Not every child is smiling when they’re happy and that’s totally fine. My job is to capture your child’s unique personality. I do everything I can to get kiddos playing and happy for the photos. Parents sometime have some tricks too. If on picture day, your child doesn’t feel like smiling, then that’s what their personality was like that day and that’s what I capture. Either way, you’ll still get photos you love. With over 15+ years of taking photos of kids, I can almost always get at least a happy glance.
